At the foot of the Turin hills, a splendid 19th century villa houses the Centro Paideia, a non-profit foundation that takes care of families and children with different abilities. The project has as its objective the recovery of the nineteenth-century villa and, following the demolition of a building of the same name in the 1950s adjacent to the villa, the construction of a new building with high energy performance that has obtained the Leed Platinum Certification. The conservative restoration has set itself the goal, thanks also to the guidelines dictated by the Superintendence of Archeology for Fine Arts of the City of Turin, to restore the original splendor of its rooms and facades to the structure. The courtly building now houses the offices of the Foundation, the interview rooms for families, the library for children and on the ground floor, adjacent to the entrance hall, a cafeteria. The "architectural joint" represents the neutral element that binds the two realities and which deliberately does not belong either to the 19th century villa or to the new building, inside it houses the double-height hall and the walkway that acts as a distribution element. The new building, certified Leed, houses in the basement a swimming pool for rehabilitation in water, on the ground floor a conference room, laboratories for psychomotor activities, a room for music therapy and speech therapy classrooms. On the flat roof, on the first floor, a multisensory garden has been created with various types of trees. This building represents an example of contemporary architecture which, by fitting into a pre-existing and historically established urban context such as the Great Mother, does not disturb its fragile balance but rather contributes to increasing its architectural value for the benefit of all citizens.

Ai piedi della collina torinese, una splendida villa dell’800, ospita al suo interno il Centro Paideia, Fondazione Onlus che si occupa di famiglie e bambini con diverse abilità. Il progetto ha come obbiettivo il recupero della villa ottocentesca e, a seguito della demolizione di un omonimo palazzo degli anni ‘50 attiguo alla villa, la realizzazione di un nuovo edifico ad alte prestazioni energetiche che ha ottenuto la Certificazione Leed Platinum. Il restauro conservativo si è prefissato, grazie anche agli indirizzi dettati dalla Soprintendenza Archeologia per le Belle Arti della Città di Torino, di ridonare alla struttura l’originario splendore dei suoi ambienti e delle sue facciate. La palazzina aulica oggi ospita gli uffici della Fondazione, le sale colloqui per le famiglie, la biblioteca per i bambini e al piano terra, adiacente la hall di ingresso una caffetteria. Il “giunto architettonico”, rappresenta l’elemento neutro che lega le due realtà e che volutamente non appartiene né alla villa dell’800 né al nuovo fabbricato, al suo interno ospita la hall a doppia altezza e la passerella che funge da elemento distributivo. Il nuovo edificio, Certificato Leed, ospita al piano interrato una piscina per la riabilitazione in acqua, al piano terra una sala conferenze, laboratori per le attività di psicomotricità, una sala per la musicoterapia e le aule per la logopedia. Sul lastrico solare, al piano primo, è stato realizzato un giardino multisensoriale con varie tipologie arboree. Questo edificio rappresenta un’ esempio di architettura contemporanea che inserendosi in un contesto urbano preesistente  e storicamente affermato come la Gran Madre non ne turba i fragili equilibri ma anzi contribuisce ad aumentarne il valore architettonico a beneficio di tutti i cittadini.
